Iranian parliament threatens labour minister with impeachment

18 Iranian MPs have given their signatures for impeachment of Minister for Labour and Social Affairs Abdolreza Sheikholeslami for appointing Sayid Mortazavi as the head of the Public Organization for Social Security of Iran.

Mortazavi is the former Prosecutor General of Tehran. He was dismissed for jailing 147 participants of unsanctioned protests against the results of presidential polls in June 2009. The convicts were maltreated in jail.
