Caucasus security to be discuss in Munich

Munich is hosting the 49th conference for international security today. The conference will last 3 days to discuss Euro-Atlantic security, focusing on the situation in Syria and Mali, RIA Novosti cites spokesman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich.


Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will introduce the Russian approach to problems in the Middle East and North Africa.


Lavrov will meet US Vice President Joe Biden, UN and LAS special envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic, Foreign Minister of Germany Guido Westerwelle, Lithuania Linas Linkevicius and Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu.


Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze will arrive in Munich from Estonia.


The conference in Munich started in 1962 as a NATO session. Over 40 countries, including members of te NATO and the EU, Russia, China, Japan and India, attend it.
