The suicide bomber who killed one person and wounded another today in an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Ankara is a member of an outlawed leftist group, Turkish Interior Minister Muammer Güler told reporters, Hurriyet daily News informs.

Although Güler did not name the group, reports said the attacker was a 30-year-old member of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party.

The suspect, named as Ecevit Şanlı, spent time in prison in the past, the reports added.
