Ex-prosecutor Sayid Mortazavi arrested in Iran

Sayid Mortazavi, an Iranian former prosecutor and incumbent head of the Public Organization for Social Security, has been arrested, prosecutors report.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had published an audio record of a conversation of Mortazavi and Fazel Larijani, a brother of Iranian Speaker of Parliament Ali Larijani.

According to the record, Fazel Larijani offered Mortazavi accused of deaths of convicts help in exchange for involvement in business projects.

Ali Larijani denied accusations. Fazel Larijani plans to sue Ahmadinejad and Mortazavi. Sadeg Larijani is the head of Iran’s judicial system. He is also a brother of Fazel and Ali Larijani.
