Georgia wants to ease punishments for visiting Abkhazia and South Ossetia by introducing amendments to the law on occupied territories, Georgian State Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili said, Trend reports.

According to the current state of the law, any people visiting the breakaway territories are to be arrested. Many citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia have been jailed, although they only entered the territories as the shortest way to their homeland.

The Georgian government has already approved the idea.
