EU urges Syrian government to talk with opposition

Foreign ministers of 27 EU states have urged Syrian authorities to start negotiations with opposition to settle the political crisis, European Chief Diplomat Catherine Ashton said, RIA Novosti reports.

Leader of the Syrian National Coalition of Oppositional and Revolutionary Forces Muaz el Hatib had expressed readiness for negotiations with Syrian authorities on January 30. He demands release of 160,000 political prisoners.
