Raffi Ovannisyan, the former Armenian presidential candidate, who gained
the second-largest amount of votes in the recent presidential
elections in Armenia, demanded that the Central Electoral Commission declare
the registration of President Serzh Sargsyan for the elections
invalid.

The deputy chairman of the "Heritage" party, Armen Martirosyan, said
that the declaration of Sargsyan regarding his election campaign
expenses did not mention the sums spent on the renting of over a thousand
campaign offices, as well as on posters. Opponents of Sargsyan claim
that if these expenses were to be included in the declaration, the sum
would have exceeded the amount provided by the law. They demanded the
dismissal of Sargsyan on these grounds. The proposal was declined by
seven votes at the CEC.
