Turkmen president orders deliveries of water to residential areas

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has ordered realization of the program for water deliveries to residential areas to be on time, the governmental press service reports.

Turkmenistan is building a modern hydrotechnical complex on the Altyn Asyr Lake in the Karakum Desert. The government is building reservoirs for water, dug an artificial river for River Karakum through the desert and filled it with water from rivers Amu, Murgab, Tejen and Etrek.

The country extracts about 3.5 million cubic meters of underground water daily. The country has 2299 springs. 1075 of them are used for drinking, 763 for watering and 461 to remove ditch water.
