Mahdavi re-elected as head of Iranian Council of Experts

Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi has been re-elected as the chairman of the Iranian Council of Experts for two years. He got 64 out of 70 votes.

The council elects the Rahbar and the country’s highest-ranking authorities. It has meetings twice a year and consists of 86 Mujtahids elected by the population for 8 years. Its sessions are closed and only Ayatollah Khamenei has access to its protocols.
