RusHydro to pay compensations to families of victims

TThe Russian company that operates the Baksanskaya hydro-electric plant will pay the families of the security guards of the plant 1 million rubles each, and injured staff will receive 500 thousand each, Russian Vice-Premier Igor Sechin said on Thursday, RIA-South reports.


He added that the government of Kabardino-Balkaria will also pay 300 thousand rubles to the families of the killed security guards and 100 thousand to injured staff members.


An armed assault on Baksanskaya hydro-electric plant took place early Wednesday morning. Two security guards were killed. The attackers took their weapons and planted self-made explosive devices in the main generator hall. There were 4 explosions that broke down generators and other equipment. One bomb was defused.
