Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to benefit Islamabad

Iranian Petroleum Minister Rostam Ghasemi said that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline will benefit both states and will be completed.

Pakistani Minister for Information and Radio Broadcasting Kamar Zaman Kaira said that the project will benefit Pakistan.

Iranian and Pakistani Presidents Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Asif Ali Zardari started the final stage of the project yesterday. 900 out of 2000 km of the pipeline have been built. The new pipeline will allow exports of 21.5 million cubic meters of Iranian gas to Pakistan.

The project is worth about $1.5 billion. Pakistan will pay $500 million for the project. Construction will be realized by Tadbir Energy Development Group.
