The British police force is now investigating the unexpected death of exiled Russian tycoon and major Putin opponent Boris Berezovsky, who was found dead in his house in Surrey yesterday.

According to unofficial data the death could have been caused by a heart attack or a suicide.

British newspapers reported that Berezovsky was suffering from depression and even spent some time at a mental institution. According to the Sunday Times, Berezovsky was devastated after he lost a lawsuit to another Russian tycoon, Roman Abramovich. The Guardian wrote that Berezovsky had believed that his reputation was ruined and had allegedly told his friends that he wished to have a heart attack.

The spokesman for the Rusian President, Dmitry Peskov, says that Berezovsky has recently wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin saying that he wants to return to Russia and asked the president to allow his repatriation.

Berezovsky's desire to return to Russia was confirmed by editor of the Russian version of the Forbes magazine and editor of The Times.
