Cypriot banks to open on Thursday

The banks have been closed since March 15. Cypriot Finances Minister Michael Sarris said yesterday that the exact opening day was approved by European partners.

The Euro Group agreed to provide 10 billion euro to save Nicosia on Monday morning. They want to restructure the Laiki Bank. All deposits worth less than 100,000 euro will be transferred from the Laiki Bank to the Bank of Cyprus. Deposits worth over 100,000 euro will be taxed by about 30% of their sum. Smaller deposits will not be taxed.
