UN evacuates half of its staff in Syria

Half of the UN staff in Syria, including the mission of UN and Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, is being evacuated today due to rising violence in the country, ITAR-TASS reports.

Brahimi may move from Damascus to Cairo or Lebanon. About 100 UN officials will stay in Syria.
