This spring about 800 Dagestanis will be drafted into the Armed Forces, with 70% to be serving in the armed forces of the Ministry of Defense.

To avoid complaints about inappropriate behaviour of Dagestanis in the army, each recruit will be appointed at least two sureties, who will be responsible for his behaviour in the military. Also, before being transported to the military premises the recruits will have to pledge to the leadership of Dagestan and his family that he will behave appropriately in the military.

Recently a number of Dagestani MPs have sent a request to the new defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, asking to enlist more residents of Dagestan in the military.
