Protesters occupy Istanbul's historic Emek Theater

Yesterday 30 protesters 'occupied' Istanbul’s Emek Cinema Theater in order to protest the demolition of the historic building. Protesters were forced to leave after a two-hour-long struggle with the police, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

The protesters carried banners with incriptions “We will not let the Taksim project be realized” and “Emek and capital will not make a deal.” They also chanted, “Emek is ours, Istanbul is ours,” the news agency informs
