Baikonur lease left without changes

The head of Roscosmos, Vladimir Popovkin, said today it had been decided not to change the present lease of Baikonur - $115 million a year - as well as the fundamental principles and contractual basis.

"Nothing has changed. Today Baikonur is leased. The lease contract is signed until 2050. Another question is that the contract was signed in 1994, and since then the relations between the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan have developed; for example, the Treaty of Eternal Friendship was signed," Popovkin told "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

In this regard, the head of Roscosmos said that there is a need for a fresh look at the joint use of the space port.
