Head of NATO European Command checks Patriot missiles in Turkey
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaJames Stavridis, Commander of the NATO European Command, has visited the Patriot missile deployments on the Turkish-Syrian border, CNN-Turk reports.
Stavridis arrived in Ankara on Tuesday and met Chief of Turkish General Staff Necdet Ozel, National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz.
Stavridis will inspect Patriot missiles in Kahramanmaras, Gaziantep and Ingirlick. He wants a military operation in Syria, similar to the one in Libya.
Turkey requested Patriot missiles in November 2012. The NATO granted the missiles on December 4. The US, Germany and the Netherlands provided 2 missile systems each.
