Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov doubts Iran's attempts to reconsider the Turkmanchay Treaty, 1news.az reports.

The treaty was signed after the Russian-Persian war of 1926-1828. According to the document, Russia expanded its borders and had Azerbaijan join its empire.

Some Iranian MPs want Azerbaijan back and call it part of Iran's territories. They claim that when Azerbaijan became independent after the fall of the USSR, the process violated the treaty.
