Women in Saudi Arabia may get the right to drive

In Saudi Arabia women may gain the right to drive. The reason for this easing may lie in economics. Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal supported the idea to allow women to drive, because it could release at least 500,000 foreign drivers from work. "This is a positive impact on the economy of the country," the prince posted on his Twitter feed. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where women are forbidden from driving. Saudi activists regularly protest against the ban. In 2011, they even turned to Subaru and General Motors with a request to stop selling cars in the country.
