Russia and Uzbekistan sign documents on economic cooperation

A meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Islam Karimov took place today, followed by extended talks between the leaders of the two countries.Vladimir Putin underlined that Russia is "happy about the stable and steady development of Uzbekistan." Documents, which according to Karimov should promote economic relations between the two countries, were signed as a result of the talks."I believe that signing of such important documents as the agreement on encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments and the economic cooperation program for the years 2013-2017 will allow, on the one hand, for the creation of the necessary legal framework and guarantee investments, and on the other, to make our cooperation more practical," Karimov said.
