Belgian intelligences services have intensified monitoring of the Chechen community. Intelligence officers have information about extremism planned in Antwerpen, Het Nieuwsblad Op Zondag reports.
A Chechen from Liege was sentenced to 12 years of prison for planning a terrorist attack against a Danish newspaper in 2011. Three out of 14 suspected extremists detained in 2010 were of Chechen origin in 2010.
About 11,000 Chechens live in Belgium at the moment.
