he intensive construction in the capital of Armenia is raising concern among specialists, the head of the architects' union Mkrtich Minasyan said, Armenia Today reports.

He said that the construction in the center of the city has reached inadmissible levels. Some streets have lost sunlight and some schools have the sunlight blocked from them by tall buildings.

Minasyan said that they may not end up following the overall plan of Alexander Tamanyan, adding that the city authorities do not always consider the views and opinions of the architects' union.

He said that the administration had promised to restore old Yerevan, but the architecture being built there is commonplace.
