Journalists’ rights violated more often in Armenia

Ashot Melikyan, head of the committee for protection of freedom of speech, said on April 23 that the number of cases of violation of journalists’ rights increased in Q1 2013.

Journalists were attacked twice during the presidential elections in February 2013. There were 13 cases of violations back then.

There were fewer such cases in Armenia during the elections in 2008. There have been 6 cases initiated by journalists in court in the last 3 months.
