Brides and grooms gain equal rights in Armenia

Men and women in Armenia now have equal rights in marriage. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted today in the second and final reading amendments to the Family Code that equalize marriage age requirements for both sexes.Now, according to the bill, both bride and groom have to be at least 18 years old in order to get married. The previous edition of the law set the minimum age for girls at 17 years, and for boys at 18.
