Chess can become part of First European Olympic Games in Baku

President of the World Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said today that inclusion of chess in the program of the European Olympic Games in Baku will be on the agenda during the meeting of the FIDE management and the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov."We hope that chess will be included in the program of the European Games. Many famous players would gladly come and take part in the Games. I expressed this wish at the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev a few months ago," Ilyumzhinov said.According to Ilyumzhinov, the decision to hold the meeting in Baku was not made by chance. The Chess Federation of Azerbaijan did a lot for the development of chess sport. In addition, this decision is connected with the decision to conduct the World Cup 2015, and the Chess Olympics 2016 in Baku.
