First Russian solar power plant to be built in 2011
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaConstruction of the first Russian solar power plant may start in 2011 in Kislovodsk, the leading specialist of the institute of ‘Rostovteploelectroproyekt’ Adolf Chernyavskiy said, RIA Novosti-South reports.
The power plant will be placed on 20 ha north-west of Kislovodsk where the most intense sunlight is. ¾ of the land will be used for photoelectric batteries, the rest will be used for heat panels of sun collectors to provide the surrounding regions of Kislovodsk with electricity and heat. Hot water will be accumulated in special containers when there is no sunlight.
The plant will produce 13 megawatts, 6.5 electric energy and 6.5 heat energy. 3 billion rubles will be invested in the project, 30% of which will come from the state budget, the rest being private investment and loans.
