Another battalion to be formed for mine-sweeping in Chechnya and Ingushetia

The 11th brigade of engineers will form the second battalion to clear mines in Ingushetia and Chechnya on September 1, RIA Novosti cites Major-General Yuri Stavitsky, head of the Russian Engineer Corps.

Over 1,300 hectares of land in Chechnya and Ingushetia were cleared of mines in 2012 and over 4,000 explosive objects removed. The Shelkovsky, Groznensky, Urus-Martanovsky and Kurchaloyevsky Districts were cleared of mines.
