EU to finance strengthening of Armenian nuclear security

The government of Armenia approved on Thursday the conclusion of the commission of European communities on a financial agreement in the sphere of nuclear energy under which the EU will provide 11 million euros, News Armenia reports.


The first deputy minister of the economy of Armenia, Karine Minasyan, said that the agreement will be realized in three spheres: assistance in improving nuclear security, nuclear waste security support and increasing the potential in this sphere.


The program is expected to be realized in 8 years and the security resources of the operating Armenian nuclear plant in Metsamor will be sufficient until this time.
