Russia sends note of protest to US over espionage scandal

Russia has send a note of protest to US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul in the midst of a major espionage scandal, Ekho Moskvy reports on Wednesday.

The Third Secretary of the US embassy in Moscow was detained by Russian special agents yesterday while allegedly trying to recruit a Russian officer. The US official was soon freed, but declared persona non grata. 

Ambassador McFaul has not yet made an official statement.
