Kazakh vice minister for education and science arrested

Kazakh Vice Minister for Education and Science Sayat Shayakhmetov has been arrested for stealing $10 million, RIA Novosti reports.

A criminal case on his illegal acquisition of state finances was initiated on April 29. The funds were granted for construction of a school for 700 pupils in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Shayakhmetov and Pak, Director General of the Directorate of Constructed Education and Science Structures of Kazakhstan, were detained on May 14, 2013. Shayakhmetov was put under home arrest on May 17.
