Iran to release Azerbaijani scientists

Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Abbas Aragchi told Azerbaijan today that Khalida Khalid, a scientist of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences, and her assistant Shamkhal Guseynov will be released in the near future. Iran will inform Azerbaijan about the reasons for detaining the two.

The official added that Iranan Mir Kazemi was another Azerbaijani citizen under arrest in Iran. His release is discussed by diplomats.

Release of the scientists was confirmed on Sunday. Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayin assured Baku yesterday that they will return to Azerbaijan in the near future.
