Georgian PM’s predecessor charged

Georgian prosecutors have charged ex-Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili, ex-Minister for Healthcare Zurab Chiaberashvili with bribery of voters, waste of money using authority and excess of authority. Hearings will start within the next 48 hours.

Georgian ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze, ex-Secretary of the National Security Council Eka Tkeshelashvili, ex-Ambassador to the UN Alexander Lomaya, Ambassador to the NATO Gega Mgaloblishvili, Zurab Kachkachishvili, Constantine Gabashvili, Sergi Kapanadze, Temur Yakobashvili, Mamuk Gamkrelidze, Paata Gaprindashvili, Nino Kalandadze, Nikoloz Natbiladze, Nikoloz Vashakidze, Levan Duchidze and Giorgi Badridze signed a letter urging the law enforcers to abstain from detaining Chiaberashvili.
