Germany says Syrian president may suppress rebels

German Intelligence Chief Gerhard Schindler said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s forces had restored control over traffic of weapons and fuel supply of tanks and aircraft, Spiegel reports.

Assad’s forces may take the lost territories back, although full destruction of opposition is impossible.

German intelligence expected Assad’s fall in December.
