Russia’s VKontakte social network blacklisted

The Russian Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications has blacklisted VKontakte, one of the largest social networks in the country, RIA Novosti reports.

Russia launched the automated registry of websites on November 1, 2012, according to the law protecting children from information hazardous for their health and development.

The website is visited by over 40 million users daily. The reasons its being blacklisted are unknown.
