Unemployment remains high in Georgia

Georgia continues to experience high levels of unemployment. In 2012, compared with the year before, it fell by just 0.1% to 15%. According to "Gruzstat", the level of activity of the population has increased by 1.7%, and the employment rate  – by 1.4%, Gruzia Online reports. The number of self-employed people has traditionally prevailed. In 2012, the number of employees increased by 4.8%, and the self-employed - by 2.8%.

The unemployment rate is relatively low in rural areas.

There has been a decline in the unemployment rate in the Kakheti region by 2.4%, and in the Adjara region by 1.5%. The unemployment rate rose in Shida Kartli and Kvemo Kartli by 1.7 and 1.6% respectively.

The unemployment rate among men fell by 0.6% and has increased among women by 0.7%.
