CERN and the European Commission want to grant 5 million euros for construction of the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) started by Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, the Palestinian National Authority, Turkey and Cyprus in 2003.
The SESAME is a machine that speeds up charged particles that generate synchronic radiation under pressure.
The European Commission was initially planning to grant 3 million euros within the program of the European Instrument of Neighbourhood and Partnership.
