Bagand Magomedov appointed acting mayor of Makhachkala

Deputy mayor of Makhachkala Bagand Magomedov has been appointed acting mayor of Dagestan's capital city, the acting head of the republic, Ramazan Abdullatipov, says in a statement.

Mayor of the city Said Amirov was recently arrested on murder charges and taken to Moscow.

Amirov was considered to be one of the most influential figures in the North Caucasus.
