The Washington Post published an article by  Karen DeYoung and Anne Gearan headlined 'U.S., citing use of chemical weapons by Syria, to provide direct military support to rebels.'

"The United States has concluded that the Syrian government used chemical weapons in its fight against opposition forces, and President Obama has authorized direct U.S. military support to the rebels, the White House said Thursday," the article reads.

Obama has “not made any decision” to pursue a military option such as a no-fly zone and has ruled out the deployment of U.S. ground troops, Benjamin Rhodes, President Obama’s deputy national security adviser, is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

'U.S. Military Proposal to Arm Rebels Includes No-Fly Zone in Syria,' an article with such a headlined was published by The Wall Street Journal

"A U.S. military proposal for arming Syrian rebels also calls for a limited no-fly zone inside Syria that would be enforced from Jordanian territory to protect Syrian refugees and rebels who would train there, according to U.S. officials," the authors of the article, Julian Barnes and Adam Entous, write.

"To do that, the military envisages creating a no-fly zone stretching up to 25 miles into Syria which would be enforced using aircraft flown from Jordanian bases and flying inside the kingdom, according to U.S. officials."

"Proponents of the proposal say a no-fly zone could be imposed without a U.N. Security Council resolution, since the U.S. would not regularly enter Syrian airspace and wouldn't hold Syrian territory," the authors underline.
