FMS opposes entrance bills and supports forced labor for migrant offenders
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Federal Migration Service of Russia today expressed its skepticism about the initiative of the State Duma to make migrant workers buy a special bill worth 30 thousand rubles on entering the Russian Federation in order to confirm solvency in case of their deportation, and suggested instead that they be sent to forced labor.
"The idea is, of course, interesting and needs to be investigated, but the question is whether this amount will be realistic for foreigners who come to work in Russia," Interfax quotes a source close to the leadership of the Federal Migration Service. "There is a danger that our colleagues follow by introducing the same measures, and a Russian grandmother who goes to see her grandson in Ukraine will have to buy the same bill," the source said.
According to the source, the funds for the deportation of foreign nationals are covered by the revenues from fines for violating immigration laws and the implementation of migration patents. "Deportations, first of all, are paid for by the offender, and secondly by the employer, and only then are public funds spent," the source noted.
To compel migrant violators into forced labor is more justified from the point of view of the Federal Migration Service. This has been proposed by the head of the Federal Migration Service in Moscow, Olga Kirillova.
