The former Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, detained in Tbilisi prison number 9 (the so-called Matrossovsky), has gone on hunger strike.

His lawyer said that the detained Giorgi Chiviashvili Merabishvili demands a television be installed in his cell and that power of attorney for his family members be arranged, so that they could use his bank card to remove declared money.

As previously reported, a month ago the former prime minister was visited by the former Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg.
