Azerbaijan is marking the 95th anniversary of the Armed Forces, formed on June 26, 1918. A parade was seen at the Azadlyg Square with over 5,000 soldiers, over 300 vehicles, over 100 aircraft, over 40 ships. T-90S tanks and Buk anti-air systems were at the parade for the first time.

Defense Minister Safar Abiyev handed a report to Azerbaijani Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev who greeted the soldiers. Aliyev emphasized the military as a priority for any country. He reminded that the Yerevan Khanate used to be part of Azerbaijan and return of the Nagorno-Karabakh territories would be an act of historic justice.

The president noted that the military budget of Azerbaijan exceeded the total budget of Armenia. Nonetheless, Azerbaijan continues negotiations with Armenia and hopes for a peaceful solution. The flag of Azerbaijan will be raised over Shusha and Khankendi.

The Azerbaijani leader praised success of defense industry, morale of the army and the military potential.
