Azerbaijani gas will go to Europe through TAP (the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline). This decision was made by a consortium of "Shah Deniz" and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR ) and immediately announced by two sources in Greece and Hungary.

According to the Greek version of the International Herald Tribune (www.ekathimerini.com), Azerbaijan determined the main gas pipeline which will bring Azeri gas to European markets. Gas goes through Greece via TAP, not through the competing pipeline of Nabucco West. According to the site, the decision was announced to Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras by representatives of the consortium "Shah Deniz" from British Petroleum (BP) and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR ) who came for that purpose to Athens.

According to other information spread by Neftegaz.ru, the choice of Azerbaijani gas export route was confirmed in Hungary, through which the pipeline of Nabucco West will run. The day before, on June 25, the official representatives of the consortium "Shah Deniz" in the Azerbaijani embassy in Budapest announced their decision on the choice of the pipeline route to TAP managing director Kjetil Tungland and managing director of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International Reinhard Mitchek. However, it was added that a formal decision about choosing the direction of the large export of Azerbaijani gas will be announced by June 28, 2013.

Earlier it was reported that Azerbaijan and the consortium, which is developing a large gas field "Shah Deniz" in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, will present their decision on the choice of gas export route for the second phase of development of the gas field by the end of June this year.
