Two officers killed and 17 woonded in major clash in Chechnya

"As a result of clashes, two police officers were killed and 17 were injured with varying degrees of severity. Approximately at 14:10, while chasing the members of illegal armed groups in the area an unidentified explosive device blew up a police officer, who received shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized. He later died in the hospital. Currently, the district is surrounded by the law enforcement agencies," RIA Novosti quotes the Investigative Committee statement.
Another policeman was wounded and also died in hospital.
The Investigative Committee reports that a major sweep of the Shatoisky district is due in the morning. Criminologists of the main investigation department of the IC in the North Caucasus Federal District arrived in Grozny to aid in investigating the circumstances.
