A Moscow city court today extended until August 21 the term of the arrest of the suspected killers of former Georgian General Roman Dumbadze, who was shot in Rublyovka  in May 2012.

"The arrest term is extended until August 21, 2013, up to 13 months and 18 days," the press-service of the court says, as reported by the Russian Legal Information Agency.

The defendants in the case are Roman Belkania, Alexander Berishvili and Shota Tarugeshvili.

Ex-general of the Armed Forces of Georgia Roman Dumbadze was shot at house number 30 on the Rublevskoe Highway in Moscow, on May 21, 2012; he died from wounds to the head and abdomen before the arrival of an ambulance.

In 2004, as the commander of the Batumi Brigade, Dumbadze declared disobedience to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. Since 2004 Dumbadze served a life sentence for treason to the Motherland, but was released in August 2008, when Russia exchanged him for 12 Georgian servicemen.

In 2010, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Dumbadze was granted Russian citizenship.
