The Political Council of the Dagestan subsidiary of the "United Russia" party has decided to petition the federal center for license revocation of 80% of the branches of universities in Dagestan because of their inefficiency, the head of the executive committee of the republican subsidiary of "United Russia" Marina Abramkina told RIA Novosti.

According to Abramkina, the republic has 130 branches of higher educational institutions, most of which do not correspond to modern realities and provide a poor education. "For such a small area our 120-130 university branches practically award diplomas that are totally not gained by knowledge," Abramkina is reported as saying by SKFO.RU.

"We monitored the higher institutions and everything was sorted out. Certain branches, which are in fact "a room and a half," nonetheless have a license. Today we will go to the federal government and petition for a ban on all this disgrace. I think that about 80% of institutions will lose their license," Abramkina said.

The head of the executive committee of United Russia notes that the republic has five major universities with all the conditions for obtaining high-quality higher education."Not all the branches should be closed. We have Dagestan State University, or the Dagestan State Technical University. They have their branches in the cities with proper conditions," Abramkina says.

In November 2012 an interdepartmental committee under the chairmanship of the Russian Minister of Education, Dmitry Livanov, monitored the university network in the whole country. According to the results of monitoring, signs of inefficiency were found in 136 higher institutions and 450 branches.
