Yaroslavl mayor detained for racketeering

Yaroslavl Mayor Yevgeny Urlashov was detained last night for racketeering worth 45 million rubles, RIA Novosti reports.
Urlashov became the mayor in April and started racketeering a businessman responsible for the city’s sanitation. The mayor demanded a cut for the businessman’s winning the first tender worth 250 million rubles for half a year.
The businessman won the next tender worth 503 million rubles next year. Urlashov demanded 6% of the sum, 45 million rubles.
The mayor was caught red-handed with 14 million rubles of the sum.
