Azerbaijani officials attend US Embassy for 4th of July

Azerbaijani officials, diplomats and public figures attended the US Embassy in Baku to mark the 4th of July. US Ambassador Richard Morningstar said that Azerbaijan was playing an important regional and international role, was a member of the UNSC, assisting in the peace mission in Afghanistan and strengthening European energy security.
Morningstar said that the US wanted to appoint a new co-chair for the OSCE Minsk Group. Co-chair Robert Bradtke was replaced with Ian Kelly on December 21, 2012.
The US ambassador expressed hope that the presidential polls of Azerbaijan in October 2013 would be clear and fair.
Azerbaijani Minister for Finances Samir Sharifov congratulated the US on the 4th of July. He reminded that Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev had been paying special attention to the US and his policy was continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan is also focusing on security and energy.
