Abdurakhmanov responds to Russians supporting the separation of Chechnya from Russia

Abdurakhmanov said that such surveys are aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and quoted the words of Rasul Gamzatov that "Caucasian people did not voluntarily enter Russia and will not go away voluntarily."
"If the Russians have in our state power, the Jews have the wealth, the Chechens are in the role of defending the country from terrorism, in which they so far succeeded," Abdurakhmanov said.
"We are not going to go away. We were in Russia for 200 years, and we will go away for 500 years," the President of the Parliament of the Chechen Republic and the co-chairman of the Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Chechnya said.
Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov was speaking about the results of a survey that indicated that 24% of the Russians "would be happy" about the separation of Chechnya from Russia, "it would not made a deep impression" on 27% of respondents, and 12% believed that "it has actually taken place." The poll was conducted on June 6-10, 2013 in 130 localities of 45 regions of the country. Abdurakhmanov called the poll a provocation.
