Russian billionaire quits Federation Council

Dmitry Ananyev, a Russian senator of the Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous District, a billionaire, a member of the board of guardians of the Russian Orthodox Church, has filed a resignation note to leave office on August 18, RIA Novosti cites Vadim Tulpanov, head of the committee for regulations of the Federation Council.

The note will be considered today at the final session of the Federation Council before the summer weekends.

Ananyev has been the senator since 2006. His terms of office end in March 2015. He became the deputy head of the united committee for budget and financial markets in 2012.
